Happy for no Reason

October 25, 2018

I love October.  Always have, always will because it’s my birth month.  Because it’s the beginning of the Autumn season.  The temperatures are cooler and if I slept, it would make for good sleeping weather.

I celebrated my birthday this year by treating myself to a trip to Carlsbad, CA.  A city just outside of San Diego.  I spent four days at a Hilton resort and I had an amazing time.  Just 4 days away from my everyday life.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my everyday life but sometimes you have to step away to recharge and rejuvenate.  I don’t take these vacations for granted because I always come back so refreshed and ready to take on anything.

While in Carlsbad I visited the Ocean Pearl Spa and was treated to a wonderful facial and massage.  I visited several restaurants and ate everything that I wanted and gave no thought whatsoever to calories.  I also visited the San Diego Zoo Safari Park where I learned about the importance of “shade grown” and “fair trade” coffee as well as the very intense mating habits of the rhinoceros.

This is the 1-bedroom villa that was my home for 4 days.

Once I found Bobby's I had breakfast there twice.  On my birthday I received my meal for half off and my server, Gail, surprised me with a piece of cheesecake at 9am!

I had this amazing dish at Cicciotti's Trattoria Italiana in Carlsbad Village.  It was shrimp, scallops and a huge lobster tail on a bed of pappardelle pasta in a red cream sauce.

I love the west coast.  The atmosphere is different somehow.  Not just the weather but the attitude of the residents.  Everyone just seemed happy.  Happy for no reason.  As I get older, I realize more and more that happiness is truly a choice and that we can be happy for no reason no matter what the circumstances.  Life is a gift and gifts are meant to be enjoyed.

Once I came home I decided to give myself one last birthday present.
