I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane
I don’t remember when I decided that I enjoyed traveling. Actually, let me rephrase. I enjoy being in other places, I do not necessarily enjoy the act of going to other places. Especially if it involves air travel. I’m not afraid to fly I just don’t like the unpredictability of flying. Flights are delayed and cancelled for any reason under the sun and the traveler is at the mercy of the airline. I hate that. Air travel has taught me to be patient and accepting of the unpredictable. I have learned to make the best of less than perfect situations. After all, if you want to see the world, you have to take the good with the bad. Or so I’m told.
Over the years I have taken several solo trips that I have absolutely loved, and I have to be honest, on most of those trips there were no issues with the flights. In fact, the times where I did have issues, I believe I was on travel for work.
This year I am going to New Orleans for spring break and Bryson City, North Carolina for my birthday. Bryson City? Yes, Bryson City. I’ve never been to New Orleans and I’m really looking forward to it. This will not be a solo trip (mind ya business). I’ve already booked a spa appointment once we arrive and I’m excited about the food, wine and night life. We’re staying right in the French Quarter and I’m planning to do everything that I’m grown enough to do.
In the fall, when I go to Bryson City I plan to rest, relax and rejuvenate. My 55th birthday demands just that. I’m going to a spa resort and initially I wanted to go someplace new, to a city that I had never been to. I was actually looking at places in Arizona because that seems like it would be a perfect place for a spa retreat. However, I couldn’t find a place that was affordable and met all my criteria. Then I remembered Lakeview at Fontana in Bryson City, North Carolina.
I first visited Lakeview at Fontana in July 2010 after a horrible breakup. I called this trip “my Independence Day”. It was fantastic and just what I needed. The surroundings are so peaceful and serene. I took daily yoga classes and had the best spa treatments ever. It was everything I had hoped for and more. This is exactly what I need for my 55th birthday.
